THIRD GENERATION OF SEITERÄ FUNFAIR CUSTOMERS - 45TH SUMMER TOUR IS ON ITS WAY

Spring and summer are busy times for Seiterä Funfair. "We have been already been on the road for a couple of months and the tour continues till the autumn. This year's programme includes the 45th anniversary celebrations as well as the new Joy Ride carousel", Mari Seiterä tells us. Seiterä funfair also promises anniversary balloons for children as well as local offers.

Seiterä funfair has long traditions and the client base has also changed

The history of Seiterä Funfair goes back to the 1940's when it began operations in Messukenttä in Helsinki. "Things have changed a lot since those days. The most significant changes are related to the transport equipment. Previously transporting the funfair required tractors, time and man-hours. In the beginning we also transported equipment by train, which was hard work. Now the transport technology is more developed and everything is transferred from one place to another in one go", Mari Seiterä recalls.
According to Mari Seiterä the funfair client base has also changed during the decades. "Previously people had less leisure options and the funfair also attracted many adult customers. Nowadays the funfair attracts more families with children and we have met the demand by adding rides suitable for children."

The new Joy Ride carousel adds speed and directions of movement and Super Waltzer continues as an enduring favourite

The latest ride for the spring and summer is the English Joy Ride carousel which replaces the traditional American Scrambler. "Joy Ride is the ride for today. It revolves in both directions and the speed can be adjusted to suit the user", Mari Seiterä says. The enduring favourite of Seiterä Funfair, Super Waltzer with its "Teacups", also attracts customers from one year to the next. "We receive feedback immediately if Super Waltzer is not included in the tour. Other main attractions are, for example, the Dragon Roller-Coaster and the Flying Carpet Crazy Dance", Mari Seiterä lists.

SEITERÄ FUNFAIR IS AGAIN ON THE GO ALL SUMMER, TUOMO SEITERÄ ON THE GO FOR 50 YEARS

Seiterä Funfair has started its summer season and Tuomo Seiterä celebrates the beginning of summer with whopping 50th birthday celebrations. You can wish Tuomo happy birthday at the tour locations until 24.9.2010 and at the same time enjoy the thrill of the speed in Crazy Dance or SuperWaltzer. And of course enjoy a candyfloss at the same time.

The funfair manager Tuomo Seiterä is 50 years old – spectacles to celebrate the anniversary

Seiterä Funfair celebrates the manager's birthday during the whole summer, although the main celebrations will be in December, after the funfair season has ended. "Tuomo is looking forward to the summer as eagerly as ever. The only changes to previous years are the spectacles  – and thus his appearance has changed for the worse", his wife Mari Seiterä quips. According to Mari his only worry is what his wife might buy him for his birthday, since his dream motorbike has already been purchased. "I'll think about the birthday present when I have time. Now we concentrate on the summer and the tour. It's only fair that Tuomo has his motorbike so that he can occasionally go and air his ideas outside the funfair", is his wife's answer to his worries.

The spring sunshine makes the funfair worker to long for the road again

Mari Seiterä is also excited about the start of the new season. "Every year the spring sunshine makes you long for the road to offer people fun experiences all over Finland." In addition to the spring sun Mari naturally wishes for sunshine for the summer, but she does not want a heat-wave. "During a heat-wave people escape to beaches, but during warm weather they also find their way to the funfair."

Seiterä Funfair has entertained Finns since 1966 and Tuomo Seiterä has managed the funfair since 1991. Seiterä tour begins in spring and ends late in autumn at the end of September. The funfair has rides for visitors of different ages, from the youngest members of the family to speed-fanatics. The latest ride acquisition is the Flying Carpet Crazy Dance. Seiterä employs about 35 people annually with extra staff during the season. The funfair's home is in Läyliäinen in Loppi, where it has a depot.
